Internet Information Services (IIS) Log
analyzing is crucially important to
running a successful online business. However, many people are unable to
utilize these IIS Log Files, simply because they do not know how to find where
their IIS Log Files are stored.
Below I have listed the step-by-step
instructions to help you find where your IIS Log Files are stored so that you
will be able to analyze the data and generate a plan to improve your marketing
efficiency.
1.
From your
computer’s desktop go to Start à Control Panel à Administrative Tools.
2.
Click to
“Run Internet Information Services” (IIS).
3.
Find your
website under the tree icon on the left.
4.
Right click
on your website and chose Properties.
5.
On the
Website tab you should see an option near the bottom that says “Active Log
Format.” Click on this Properties button.
6.
At the
bottom of the “General Properties Tab,” you should see a box that contains the Log File Directory and the Log File Name. This Full Log Path is compiled
of the log file directory and the first part of the log file name.
For Example,
if your dialog box displayed shows the following values:
·
Log
file directory: C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles
·
Log
file name: W3SVC1\exyymmdd.log
Then your
Full Log Path to be entered in to your IIS Log Analyzer would be:
C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\W3SVC1
Now that you know where to find
your IIS Log Files, you can utilize your log analyzer to improve your traffic
generation and improve your business’ productivity!
